Wings Over the Rockies May 6 to 12

It’s the best time of year to be a birder in the Columbia Valley.

With more than 200 species of birds returning or stopping in on their way north found around the Columbia River Wetlands and benches of the Rocky and Purcell mountains, it’s bird-a-palooza in early May.

That fact was strong in the heads of the original crew that formulated what is now one of the premier birding events in North America – Wings Over the Rockies Nature Festival.

The 27th annual Wings is running May 6 to 12, with107 events planned during the seven festival days, and many new ones too!

Organizers are excited to have as keynote speaker, Bob McDonald, host of CBC Radio’s Quirks and Quarks program.

The theme for 2024 is Wings “Way Over” the Rockies – The BIG Picture.
