Dumpster fire damages hospital auxiliary building

Firefighters with Cranbrook Fire & Emergency Services responded to a dumpster fire early Wednesday, April 24, outside the hospital auxiliary building, located on 8th Avenue South.

Four firefighters with C Shift and two apparatus responded to the call around 7:18 a.m. this morning.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a fire in a dumpster at the back of the building, which had started to scorch the building’s siding.

The fire was extinguished quickly. No injuries or additional property damage were reported.

Cranbrook Fire & Emergency Services reminds all business owners that have garbage dumpsters or yellow recycling bins on their properties to ensure these are placed at least 16 feet away from any building or structure.
