CBKSAR helps four hikers off Fisher
Saturday, Sept. 24 was a busy day for search and rescue organizations in the East Kootenay.
Fernie Search and Rescue helped an injured mountain biker near Fernie and Cranbrook Search and Rescue (CBKSAR) helped four young hikers down from Fisher Peak (pictured).
“One of the hikers became mildly hypothermic. The four were not prepared for the cold, snow and ice that they encountered,” CBKSAR reported on its Facebook page.
“Five CBKSAR members flew in by helicopter and assisted the group off the mountain. A Kimberley SAR team was on standby at the Big Horn Helicopters hanger just in case the event grew into a more involved task,” CBKSAR related.
