Premier returning to East Kootenay

The Premier of British Columbia is popping by the Columbia Valley Chamber of Commerce (CVCC) for lunch and a chat on Friday, March 10.

Premier Christy Clark

Later in the afternoon she heads to the Kimberley Conference and Athlete’s Training Centre (about 2:45 p.m.) for a round-table session with city and business leaders.

The CVCC is welcoming Premier Christy Clark for lunch and a 2017 budget review conversation, with a rural perspective.

“This is a great opportunity to ask questions to gain an understanding about the budget and the process and the recently released BC Rural Economic Development Strategy,” the CVCC noted in a message to members.

As space is limited the luncheon, running from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., is open only to chamber membersRegister for the luncheon.

Mayor Don McCormick

City of Kimberley Mayor Don McCormick said the Premier’s schedule is tight and details are still being finalized for her visit.

“I have told her staff that a business roundtable is the best use of time in Kimberley, and that we must have at least an hour for a productive engagement.  This is similar to the last time we did this a couple of years ago and that worked quite well.  It is an opportunity to make the Premier and her staff aware of issues and opportunities that are important to us in Kimberley,” he said.

The Kimberley roundtable is also not open to the public.
