The following is a synopsis of what occurred during the April 24 District of Elkford council meeting.

Tee Off for Tots Golf Tournament

The District of Elkford will enter up to two golf teams in the Tournament that will be held June 9. The proceeds from this fundraiser will be distributed between the Elkford Early Years Committee and the Elkford Community Enhancement Society.

National Day of Mourning

One council member will attend this ceremony tomorrow, April 28, in Sparwood. The National Day of Mourning commemorates workers who have been killed, injured, or suffered illness due to workplace hazards and incidents. The district will also fly our flags at half-mast to honour those workers.

BC Hydro operations update

BC Hydro will provide information and presentations regarding Columbia Basin reservoir levels, fish operations, and BC Hydro programs and local activities at meetings throughout the Kootenay/Columbia region that are open to the public and elected officials. One member of council will attend the meeting on May 17 in Cranbrook.

Bylaws

Tax Rate Bylaw No. 800, 2017 received its first three readings. This bylaw will set the property tax rates for 2017.
