Ann and Jim Wavrecan feted as Citizens of the Year

Ann and Jim Wavrecan were Jan. 25 feted as Cranbrook’s 2018 Citizens of the Year.

The couple were honoured by the Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce and a Heritage Inn and Conference Centre crowd for years of civic and volunteer service to the community.

The evening featured Loree Duczek and Jason Wheeldon as hosts, with event sponsor Vast Resource Solutions donating podium time to Community Foundation of Kootenay Rockies executive director Lynette Wray.

Beta Sigma Phi’s Karylla Leslie spoke about Ann’s involvement in the city, while Karin Penner and Brianna Kennedy of the Sweetheart Society speaking to Jim’s long-time giving to his community.

Making presentations to the couple were City of Cranbrook Mayor Lee Pratt, chamber vice president Jason Fast and outgoing Citizen of the Year Mike Adams.
