One dead in four vehicle crash near Golden
One person is dead following a four-vehicle crash on Highway 1 west of Golden this afternoon (January 7).
At approximately 3:10 p.m., police and emergency services responded to a report of a four-vehicle fatal collision on Highway 1, approximately 20 kilometres west of Golden.
Upon arrival, police confirmed that two passenger vehicles and two commercial vehicles were involved in the crash that has killed one person.
Highway 1 is closed in both directions and there is no detour available according toĀ DriveBC.ca.
Trans Canada East Traffic Services (TCETS), BC Ambulance Service, Commercial Vehicle and Safety Enforcement officers, the BC Coronersā Service and the RCMP Collision Reconstruction Service are investigating this crash.
At this time, the cause of the collision is not known, however winter driving conditions are being considered as a possible contributing factor, reported Cpl. Mike Halskov of BC RCMP Traffic Services.
Motorists can expect the highway to remain closed for a number of hours while the collision is investigated and the highway is made safe for travel.
