Officials ask: stay back from Fairmont fire

The public is being asked to stay away from the 5000-block of Wilder Loop Road in Fairmont Hot Springs as members of the Fairmont Fire Department are on the scene of a structure fire.

RCMP and BC Hydro are also on scene and Wilder Loop Road is closed to traffic at this time.

“It is important for the public to stay out of the area, not only for their safety, but so that they don’t impede firefighting efforts,” stressed Columbia Valley Rural Fire and Rescue Chief Jim Miller.  “We are asking people to respect the local closures and stay away.”

In addition to members of the Fairmont Fire Department, members and equipment from the Windermere Department are providing assistance on scene. “The house was fully engulfed upon our arrival and crews have done a good job of containing the flames to the immediate structure involved,” added Chief Miller.

There are no injuries and although the fire is contained, it is still an active fire scene.

More details will be provided when available.
