Missing Alberta man’s remains found in Moyie River
Creston RCMP and the BC Coroners Service are now investigating after the remains of a missing Lethbridge, Alberta man were located in the Moyie River late Monday morning.
Lewis White was last seen on July 23 in Lethbridge. He was travelling to a destination in B.C.; however, he never arrived as scheduled.
His motor vehicle was located on July 26 near Yahk.
On July 27, at approximately 11:30 a.m., search and rescue personnel located Lewis’ remains, during their second day of searching. His remains were recovered in the Moyie River within the vicinity of where his vehicle was found. His family has since been notified.
At this time there is no evidence to suggest that criminality was involved in Mr. White’s sudden death, says Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, spokesperson for the BC RCMP Southeast District.
“We extend our deepest condolences to Lewis’ family during this difficult time.”
The BC Coroners Service was notified and is engaged in an independent and concurrent fact-finding investigation to determine how, where, when and by what means the deceased came to his unexpected death.
Neither the RCMP or the BC Coroners Service has any additional information to release.
