Potable water available during Fairmont system shutdown

The Fairmont Community Association reports that community residents can obtain potable water from Fairmont Hot Springs Resort when water is shut off for repairs on December 7, causing a boil water notice.

The upcoming system wide shutdown on Dec. 7 is to allow the Fairmont Hot Springs Water & Sewer system more time to repair a leaking watermain valve at Mountain Top Road and Wills Road. A boil water notice will be in place until about Dec. 14.

“Beginning today (Dec. 2) and between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., potable water will be available at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort for any Fairmont residents who would like to fill a container to take home rather than boil water,” the community association stated on social media.

“Weather permitting this will be available until the boil water advisory is lifted. This is expected to be December 14 after the emergency valve repair on December 7.”

The association also provided directions for people once at the resort: “As you approach the front door immediately to the right of the bike racks a red sign indicating potable water and a blue hose is available for anyone who would like to come to the resort with their own container.”
