Hair of the Dog Dinner to support Leslie Long Rescue

A Cranbrook business is hosting a fundraiser for the Leslie Long Rescue on Friday, March 18.

Auntie Barb’s Bakery is holding a $30/plate Hair of the Dog Dinner for the independent animal rescue organization based in Cranbrook that works to give animals a home where they can live their best life.

“Les has saved dozens of dogs from northern Manitoba who would not have survived the weather. As well as helping re-home local pets, she goes above and beyond to help reunite lost and found pets all over our area and has been out at all hours of the day and night looking for lost or stray fur babies,” said Barb Smythe, owner of Auntie Barb’s Bakery.

“Leslie has one of the softest hearts when it comes to the animals. A more dedicated spirit there never was. She is truly “one of a kind.” She even likes most people, too,” she added.

The event, which begins at 5:30 p.m., will be an all-you-can-eat buffet dinner, salad bar, dessert bar, with non-alcoholic drinks. There will also be draw prizes.

Those wishing to attend are asked to purchase tickets in advance online or in the bakery. Those aged 12 and under pay their age at the door.

“We are accepting monetary donations as well as returnable bottles/cans, pet food, leashes, collars and pet toys,” Smythe said.

Auntie Barb’s Bakery is located at 217 Cranbrook Street North.
