Have your say about Electoral Boundary Changes
The BC Electoral Boundaries Commission (BCEBC) is asking British Columbians to share their views on the electoral district boundaries in their area via an online survey.

The survey is for individuals residing in B.C. as well as organizations that wish to provide input to the Commission. Along with filling out the survey, residents can make written submissions via email or mail, or request a meeting with the commissioners.
The BCEBC has also scheduled an in-person public hearing in Cranbrook on Tuesday, April 5 at 2 p.m. at the Prestige Inn Rocky Mountain Resort.
“The Commission is working on the electoral district boundaries for the next two provincial elections in BC. These boundaries are important because each electoral district is represented by one elected representative in the B.C. legislature. The Kootenays currently have four electoral areas, which all need to be preserved,” noted Kootenay East MLA Tom Shypitka.
“The survey for the proposed Electoral Boundary Changes is here for you to participate in. As a rural riding we need to preserve respectable representation due to geographic challenges. There are some that think our electoral boundaries should be based on population alone which would in turn give more power to the Lower Mainland,” Shypitka pointed out.
“Proper representation must consider geographical barriers, transportation barriers and communication barriers. This is no different than school districts and regional districts. Please make your voice heard or we will have less say than we already have.”
Refer to BCEBC’s Privacy page for more information about how information collected through this survey will be used.
RSVPs are appreciated for the in-person meeting on April 5. If you plan to attend, please email [email protected].
