All occupants safe after structure fire Monday

All occupants are safe following a structure fire in the 1600 block of 1st Street South on Monday afternoon.

At approximately 3:12 p.m. on May 16, four members of Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services responded to a call for assistance. Upon arrival, firefighters found one unit on the property fully involved. Within minutes, an additional 20 firefighters and four apparatus responded.

Emergency Social Services (ESS) was on the scene quickly, was able to ensure all building occupants were provided shelter and other essential services Monday night.

Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services is grateful for the quick actions and support at the scene from the Cranbrook RCMP, the BC Ambulance Service, ESS, BC Hydro and Fortis.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is underway Tuesday morning.
