RCMP seek information in fatal crash last Friday

One person is dead following an afternoon crash south of Kimberley on June 24.

At approximately 4:50 p.m. last Friday, Kimberley RCMP responded to a head-on collision on Highway 95A near Stirton Road, south of Marysville.

Upon arrival it was determined that a blue Dodge Journey heading southbound entered the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a northbound vehicle (a green Ford Escape), resulting in serious injuries to the drivers of both vehicles.

The passenger in the Dodge Journey later died of her injuries in hospital.

Highway 95A was closed for several hours as police investigated, gathered evidence and recovered the vehicles involved. BC Highway Patrol Cranbrook is continuing this investigation with assistance from Kimberley RCMP, the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service and the BC Coroners’ Service.

Anyone with information regarding this fatal crash, including anyone with dashboard camera video of pre-collision driving of either vehicle, is asked to contact BC Highway Patrol Cranbrook at 250-420-4244 and cite file 2022-2750.
