Most regional fires under control today

The BC Wildfire Service reports no new fires overnight in the East Kootenay, with most reported in the past couple of days considered under control.

However, the lightning-caused wildfire discovered July 24 near Bonner Mountain, north of Redding Creek and about 12 km west of St. Mary Lake, is considered out-of-control at .01 hectare.

The fire located south of St. Mary River, west of Kimberley is considered under control at .4 ha.

Three small fires in the Picture Valley/Norbury Creek areas are under control, as are two fires south of Cranbrook at South Teepee Creek and Teepee Creek.

BC Wildfire Service notes there have been 14 new fires in the province in the past two days, and 67 in the past week.
