Classic Canadian rock festival coming to Cranbrook
A veritable who’s who of Canadian classic rock icons from the 1970s, ‘80s and ’90s are coming to Cranbrook in the summer of ’23 in Rock the Kootenays announced this morning at Western Financial Place.
Sask Entertainment Group (SEG), a leading entertainment company and the team behind Rock the River, Saskatchewan’s Classic Rock Festival, is excited to announce Rock the Kootenays, a new three-day festival at the Western Financial Place festival site in from August 11 to 13, 2023.
The festival featuring headliners Kim Mitchell, Tom Cochrane and April Wine will be held outside while Western Financial Place will be open as a “cooling centre” and for food purchases, said City of Cranbrook manager of Venues and Events Trevor Thors during today’s announcement.
The new festival experience will bring an impressive line-up of classic rock artists performing the hits music lovers have enjoyed for decades.
Day one, Friday, August 11, gets underway at 5 p.m. with three rockin’’ acts, beginning with Helix followed by Headpins and closed by Kim Mitchell.
Gates open at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday with Canadian metal queen Lee Aaron leading off, followed by Winnipeg’s Harlequin and Vancouver’s Prism with legendary Tom Cochrane concluding the day.
Sunday also gets underway at 2:30 p.m. with Windsor, Ontario’s Teaze, followed by Regina/Winnipeg favourite Streetheart and Niagara Falls’ Honeymoon Suite. Canadian classic rock icons April Wine conclude the weekend of rockin’ fun.

Three-day festival passes are starting at $210 and day passes are available for $75.
