Fernie opens sandbag station
The City of Fernie reports its Public Works team is out in the community today, focussing on clearing snow and opening storm drains to alleviate localized ponding following yesterdayâs rain and continued melt from warming temperatures.
âWe know it is icy and we are out sanding in priority order. For those who need sand, we have opened our self-serve sandbag station as of 1 p.m. December 28.â
Located near the Operations Facility at 1492 Railway Avenue (Next to TJâs Autobody), sandbags are provided but make sure to bring your own shovel, the city stated.
âIf conditions remain the same, our crews will be out early tomorrow morning removing snow from downtown to better serve on-street parking. We will also be out widening roads in congested areas in Maintown and Annex.â
You can report non-emergency concerns or request service and the city will address them in priority order.
To report urgent infrastructure issues please call the Fire Department non-emergency line at (250) 423-4226.
