Full response to Sunday fire in West Fernie
On the afternoon of January 8, Fernie Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at a former mechanic shop in West Fernie.
No one was injured in the fire and crews were able to protect nearby homes and save a substantial amount of the equipment and tools stored on the property.
The complex fire required a full response from Fernie Fire Rescue as well as mutual aid from the Hosmer Fire Department, and support from BC Ambulance and City of Fernie Public Works.
Thank you to all the first responders for safely containing the blaze and minimizing the damage to property.
A representative from the Office of the Fire Commissioner will be on scene today with the City of Fernie Fire Chief to begin the investigation into the cause of the fire.
