McPhee and Theatre Road intersection work begins Feb. 27
Final hardware installation and testing work is set to begin at the McPhee and Theatre Road intersection on Monday, February 27, through Thursday, March 2.
During this period, reduced traffic movement will be in place to install the permanent signal poles, hardware and traffic control cabinet. Anyone travelling through the intersection during this period is asked to follow the direction of the onsite crews and flagging personnel.
Even with the installation of the permanent hardware, the McPhee and Theatre Road intersection will remain a four-way stop until late March or early April.
âDuring this time, there will be testing and programming of the intersection, as well as interconnect with CP Railâs systems and advance warning signals,â said Curtis Mummery, Manager of Roads and Infrastructure with the City of Cranbrook. âThis is critical to ensure the new signal lights work together with CP Railâs systems making sure the intersection functions efficiently and safely.â
The city thanks everyone for their patience while completing this important intersection upgrade project.
This project has been made possible in part thanks to federal grant funding through the Rail Safety Improvement Program (RISP).
