Council supports LCRB application for Trailhead Brewing

Trailhead Brewing Co. has applied to the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB) for a Lounge Area Endorsement Application for a new building to be constructed at 806 Baker Street.

The location will occupy three of the vacant parcels on Baker Street adjacent to the Cranbrook Tourism Visitor Centre/Cranbrook Photo building and the nearby arch entrance into downtown Cranbrook.

Trailhead Brewing Co.’s proposed application includes two proposed patios – one in the front of the building, and the other on the side of building with access via a gate. The patios would be operational from May to October each year, a city staff report outlined.

Proposed hours of sale are as follows: Sunday: 9 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday: 11:45 a.m. – 9 p.m. Friday: 11:45 a.m. – 12 a.m. Saturday: 9 a.m. – Midnight.

While staff have received drawings and plans for the proposed establishment, there is no active construction at the site. Trailhead Brewing Co.’s application indicates a completed construction timeline of May 18, 2024.

“Staff support the application in principle as the proposed use fits within the commercial zone near other establishments serving liquor and with outdoor patio spaces,” the staff report noted.

“No negative impact is anticipated as the proposed brewery establishment will help contribute to downtown vibrancy by filling vacant lots and adding a new building and business to the area. The land has been vacant for several years and the proposal is a good fit for the community.”

Council May 1 voted to support the application of Trailhead Brewing Co. for a Lounge Area Endorsement Application.
