Mainroad advises black ice conditions possible
Snowfall began in Mainroad East Kootenay Contractingâs service area this morning, but all highways were pretreated with liquid chemical de-icer in advance of the storm, the regional highways contractor reported this afternoon (Nov. 2).
All areas of the East Kootenay are currently receiving wintery conditions.
âCrews have plowed, sanded and salted all major highways; however, with the fluctuating temperatures overnight we could see some black ice conditions,â Mainroad stated in a stakeholderâs advisory.
âTemperatures are forecasted to remain above zero with snowfall accumulation tapering off early this evening.
âMorning commuters are reminded to be cautious as changing temperatures can impact road surfaces,â Mainroad said.
âMotorists should use caution, drive to the conditions, and prepare for delays caused by the weather.â
Drivers should check www.drivebc.ca before heading out.
