Highway 3 open again east of Hosmer
UPDATE:
Highway 3 is once again open east of Hosmer and west of Sparwood.
DriveBC and Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting are reporting that Highway 3 is closed seven km east of Hosmer and five km west of Sparwood.
DriveBC noted the highway is closed between Ingham Rest Area and Olsen overhead bridge.
There is no detour available.
The next update on DriveBC is 2:30 p.m.
A travel advisory is in effect between Fernie and the B.C./AB border.
“A significant snow event is forecasted Dec. 7 for Highway 3 from Fernie to BC/AB border. Travellers should expect rapidly deteriorating conditions, consider alternative travel plans and be prepared for short notice closures,” DriveBC stated.
