RDEK board finds $210k for Peak Gymnastics building
The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) Columbia Valley Services Committee Feb. 9 unanimously agreed to provide $210,000 for Peaks Gymnastics Society’s (PGS) new building.
The board agreed to provide the full amount requested by Peak Gymnastics, which is fundraising to build a roughly $1.25 million facility at the Invermere crossroads.
In a report, PGS noted it has developed a relationship with Lake Windermere and District Lions Club and “are grateful in obtaining a lease on their land off Lakeview Drive for $1 a year. With the location being close to the highway, it serves as more accessible to the entire Columbia Valley. The proposed building is 8,000 ft.”
Peaks successfully received land zoning approval from the RDEK to include a gymnastics facility in December 2020.
