Columbia Valley Search and Rescue (SAR) was called out the afternoon of Feb. 18 to find a lost ski tourer in the Panorama Mountain Resort backcountry.

The skier did the right thing by calling 9-1-1 for help and staying put so rescuers could find them. With the help of Panorama Ski Patrol a team was able to locate the skier and bring them back to safety.

No matter what kind of adventure you are heading into the backcountry for, always be prepared with the appropriate gear, plan ahead to know your route and don’t trust tracks that you see, they may not be leading you in the right direction.
