Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting this afternoon reported the region has been impacted by snowfall over the last few days, along with cold temperatures.

Highways have clear sections with some compact areas. Mainroad crews are currently cleaning roads based on a priority sequence, as well as plowing and applying winter abrasive material when necessary, the regional highways maintenance contractor stated,

“Please leave a safe following distance to allow our crews to perform their work in a safe manner.”

Motorists should use caution, drive to the conditions, and prepare for delays caused by the weather. Drivers should check www.drivebc.ca before heading out.

Mainroad’s 24-hour communications and dispatch office will pass on all observations and concerns to crews when contacted.
