COTR holding health programs information session

College of the Rockies (COTR) is holding an information session for those interested in health programs on Tuesday, April 16 from 4 to 6 p.m. in Room 205.

According to BCStats, since 1997 employment in B.C.’s healthcare sector has grown faster than the average for all other industries.  It is anticipated that employment will continue to grow in the coming years as the population ages – especially in the areas of residential care, nursing and dentistry.

College of the Rockies’ Health department head Heather Hepworth invites the public to learn more about health program options at the college.

Students looking to enter into the healthcare field can learn more about College of the Rockies’ Health Care Assistant, Certified Dental Assistant, Access to Practical Nursing, Licensed Practical Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs.

Health programs department head Heather Hepworth says, “This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in making a difference in the lives of others to learn more about our healthcare programs. We work with industry to ensure our students receive the best training available to help them meet the needs of the public they will serve.”

While attendees enjoy refreshments, representatives from the college will be on hand to discuss program details, financial aid, prerequisites and admission requirements. The $30 application fee will be waived for anyone who attends the information session and applies to take a healthcare program at the college in September.
