Fernie candidates’ forum Nov. 2 at community hall
City of Fernie voters have a chance to check out their candidates for mayor and council on Nov. 2 when an all-candidates’ forum is being held at the Fernie Community Hall.
The 7 p.m. forum, being hosted by the Fernie Chamber of Commerce and Fernie Free Press, won’t feature an open microphone format.
The forum will feature 10 council candidates, including incumbents Phil Iddon and Randal Macnair, as well as Casey Brennan, Andrea McKay Horton, Joni Krats, Jonathan MacGregor, Dan McSkimming, Willard Ripley, Erik Stout and Joe Washawsky.
Current Mayor Cindy Corrigan and Coun. Mary Giuliano are running for mayor.
According to the chamber website, “Questions can be pre-submitted to the Free Press ([email protected]) by the public, and there will also be a registration table at the forum for the public to submit a question in writing on the night.
“A decision will be made by a committee comprised from the Free Press and Chamber of Commerce as to which questions will be posed to the candidates. This is to ensure that there is no duplication of questions or personal attacks on the candidates and that there is a fair balance of topics. The questions will either be read out by the moderator or the individual who submitted the question.”
For more information call the chamber at 250-423-6868 or [email protected].
