Thank you!
Saying thank you is never enough for what was sacrificed for our nation during the First and Second World Wars, the Korean Conflict, in Afghanistan and by our peacekeeping forces over the past few decades.
But several thousand people attended and several hundred people took part in the annual Remembrance Day ceremony at the Cranbrook Cenotaph in Rotary Park this morning, Nov. 11 – to say thank you and honour the dead and living.
Downtown Cranbrook was echo-quiet prior to the ceremony and parade marchers’ foot falls could be heard clopping down 10th Avenue South past city hall – marchers in unison, many heads bowed in respect.
The Royal Canadian Legion once again provided leadership for the ceremony, with dozens of veterans taking part in the parade and ceremony, with numerous others sprinkled throughout the large crowd.
Representatives from several dozen organizations and even more individuals laid wreaths at the cenotaph as part of the ceremony.
