Snowmobiler dies in avalanche

A 29-year-old Crawford Bay man is dead following an avalanche in the Grey Creek Pass area yesterday.

On March 11, Creston RCMP responded to the Grey Creek area (west of Kimberley) to a report of a missing snowmobiler.

Two men were out snowmobiling in the rural area commonly referred to as the Grey Creek Pass when they were caught in an avalanche. One male was able to make it out but was unable to find the second male. Emergency crews were called to the scene including Search and Rescue from Nelson.

Nelson Search and Rescue located the 29-year-old male, but sadly he succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.

The B.C. Coroners Service has taken over the investigation.
