Parsons presents EKFH with $5,000

You may well remember the face of former Alpine Toyota owner Terry Parsons (pictured above) who this week made a surprise visit to East Kootenay Foundation for Health to present a $5,000 gift to Donna Grainger and Colin Sinclair (EKFH Director).

“I’ve never forgotten the people who supported me and my business venture over the years and this seemed like a perfect way to show that appreciation by making a gift to the regional hospital. The Starlite Campaign and its focus to raise funds for digital mammography seemed a good fit for me to come forward and help in a regional cause,” explains Parsons.

The fourth annual Starlite Campaign for Excellence in Health Care and its star sponsor, East Kootenay Community Credit Union will begin to light stars on November 24 through to the January 31, 2012.

The Terry Parsons star will takes its place amongst other generous donors wishing to light the 17 beautifully handcrafted stars atop the regional hospital roofline.  Together the Starlite Campaign and A Clear View – digital mammography will make a difference for people who make face a breast cancer diagnosis.

In related news, the ladies of Beta Sigma Phi, Iota Alpha, are delighted to support the East Kootenay Foundation for Health and their Clear View Campaign to purchase a digital stereotactic mammography unit for the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

The ladies recently presented $600 to the Kimberley ‘Faces of the Campaign’ Elva Keiver and Heather Morissette, both breast cancer survivors who support the campaign. A special thank you to Grubstake Pizza.

Typical Beta Sigma Phi chapters enjoy socials that range from informal gatherings to gala affairs that often include friends and family. Fascinating cultural programs offer insight into subjects that range from the arts to gardening to in-home businesses. Membership in their organization provides opportunities to contribute to community, develop lifelong friendships, and polish leadership skills.

Beta Sigma Phi chapters raise more than $3 million for local charities and donate over 200,0000 volunteer hours in an average year. Each chapter determines its own service projects and participation is always voluntary.
