BC Book Prize finalists on tour
BC Book Prize finalists are hitting the road this year for free events throughout the province. Two finalists will go on tour and give free readings in communities throughout the Kootenays.
• Ari Goelman, The Path of Names, shortlisted for the Sheila A. Egoff Children’s Literature Prize;
• Kathryn Para, Lucky, shortlisted for the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize.
B.C. book lovers are invited to meet these award-nominated members of the B.C. literary community and purchase signed books at a public event:
Thursday, May 1 in Fernie at 7 p.m. at the Fernie Heritage Library, 492-3rd Avenue.
Authors will also visit students at elementary and high schools in Nelson, Erickson, Creston, Sparwood, Fernie, and Cranbrook.

The 30th annual Lieutenant Governor’s BC Book Prizes Gala will be held at the Renaissance Vancouver Harbourside Hotel on Saturday, May 3. Winners in seven categories will be announced and the recipient of the 2014 Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Literary Excellence will be celebrated. British Columbia’s Lieutenant Governor, the Honourable Judith Guichon, will be in attendance.
