Cyber Awareness

Cst. Mazerolle, who worked in the computer tech business prior to joining the RCMP, is in the process of working on a cyber-awareness presentation given the number of complaints the detachment has received in regard to predators searching out victims. Many are providing too much personal information as well as photographs online, not realizing the potential impact that results in bullying and extortion.

Impaired charge for Invermere man

At 9 p.m. on Nov. 4, Columbia Valley RCMP Detachment received a complaint of an impaired driver. Vehicle and driver were located at Lower Lakeview Lane at a residence. The investigation resulted in a breath demand being given to a 68-year-old male from Invermere. The driver was charged with driving over .08 and will appear in Invermere Provincial court on Jan. 19.

Breach of conditions

At 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 5, as a result of a vehicle check on Hwy 93/95 in Fairmont Hot Springs, a 23-year-old male was arrested and charged with breach of his conditions when it was determined he was in a licensed establishment. The male was also charged with driving with no insurance. Court date, Jan. 19.

Collision with deer

At 8 p.m. on Nov. 7, Columbia Valley Detachment responded to a single vehicle accident involving a 2003 Dodge truck and a deer. The 56-year-old male driver from Alberta was not injured and the truck received minor damages.

Drunk in public

On Nov. 8, a 52-year-old male from Invermere was observed staggering and falling on 13^th Street, near Lambert Insurance. The male was found to be highly intoxicated and was arrested for being drunk in public. The male was released in the morning with a ticket under the Liquor Act for drunk in public.

Poker awareness

It is best that when a hand is in play and the fellow beside you asks what you have, one should not show your hand to the fellow beside you who is also still in play. Bad move, but I certainly appreciated your lack of awareness. Made my decision to fold an easy decision.
