Exciting partnership in the world of travel
From the eyes of travel experts
Last Tuesday was a game-changing day in the travel world.
On September 29, a splashy, sold-out fundraising party took place in Toronto, hosted by G Adventures, a Canadian adventure travel company with a social conscious. In celebration of 25 year in the adventure travel business, G Adventures announced their new partnership with National Geographic.
As travellers and veteran travel consultants, Diane Manson and the team at Mountain City Travel couldn’t be more excited. They believe these two iconic brands will take experiential travel to another level, and in doing so, have a positive impact in the world based on their brands social and purpose driven beliefs.
Seventy worldwide travel experiences have been created, dubbed “National Geographic Journeys with G Adventures.” These experiences promise to be hands-on activities centered around local culture, time spent with knowledgeable experts, and provide insider access. The line-up is set to be launched December 15, with departures beginning January 5, 2016.
G Adventures and National Geographic describe their line-up as “unique experiences full of life-changing moments.”
Travellers will meet with conservationists working to save rhinos in Kenya, plant trees in a Costa Rican cloud forest with a biologist from a National Geographic-funded research centre, or walk the streets of Delhi with a former street youth. The trips are made up of a not more than a 16-person group.
G Adventures safari experience will see a big change with the introduction of an innovative overland adventure vehicle. This rig will be equipped with WiFi, charging stations for cameras, smartphones, and laptops as well as fridge and onboard water tank for bottle refills. The “Lando” is expected to be on the road by spring 2016.
River cruising has exploded over the past several years and G Adventures is jumping onboard with the release a series of small vessels, for small group riverboat programs.
The river itineraries will be on the Ganges, France (Burgundy region), the Amazon, on the Mekong (Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap). All vessels will include cabins with windows and a private bath. Expect immersive experiences and biking tours.
Typically National Geographic trips were on the higher-end scale, designed for people with more resources. According to G Adventures, National Geographic Journeys will offer a price point that’s more affordable.
The Team at Mountain City Travel is counting down the days until the official release of National Geographic Journeys with G Adventures. This new partnership and shared vision of social responsibility, and immersive travel experiences promises to be a game-changer.
