Obituary of Elizabeth Jayne Geiger

Elizabeth Jayne Geiger

Elizabeth Jayne Geiger (Jayne – to everyone who knew her) was born in Kimberley, BC on October 11th, 1944.  Growing up in Kimberley with two hockey legends of her father and brother, it was natural that Jayne became a figure skater like her mother before her.  Raised with three older brothers and parents who golfed, Jayne also became an avid golfer. Always an athlete, she enjoyed fastball and curling and was an avid skier.  She gave back to the sporting world by studying to become a figure skating judge and volunteered countless hours at many skating clubs across the East and West Kootenays.

Jayne was a talented secretary and after beginning a career as a legal secretary, her professional career saw her as the executive secretary to many prominent positions in various fields (Pulp Mill Manager, Kootenay Park Superintendent, and CEO of Interior Health).

Additionally, Jayne spent more than 20 years building and running a campground with her husband Wayne, developing lifelong friends in the Campland gang, and creating a warm, welcoming place for friends to gather and generate memories for many years.

Jayne was a gifted crafter.  Living for many years without the luxury and distractions of TV, she used her ingenuity and taught herself a wide variety of crafts to entertain and occupy the time of her young inventive daughters.  Her talents through many phases of her life included stained glass, sewing, and quilting but her passion was Celtic wheat weaving.  Many homes in the valley display her original designs.

Jayne will be incredibly missed by her husband of 53 years, Wayne; and is survived by her two daughters, Regan (Ryan) and Lisa (Brent) as well as four grandsons (Aidan, Gavin, Jace, and Maddox), two older brothers (Bill and John), seven nieces, one nephew and many cousins and second cousins who will miss her company.  By Jayne’s request, there will be no service.  A family get-together will occur in the summer.   Raise a toast with your favourite drink.
