Obituary of Gordon Elliott Bostock

GORDON (“GORD”) ELLIOTT BOSTOCK

OCTOBER 23, 1944 – AUGUST 19, 2023
Gordon Elliott Bostock passed away peacefully at home in Cranbrook, BC on Saturday, August 19, 2023.  It was the 61st year to the day since he met the love of his life Marj at the Bridesville Horse Show.

Gord was born on October 23, 1944 in Woodstock, Ontario.  He moved to Bridesville, BC with his family when he was two years old.

Gord started working in the bush at 15 years old with best friend, Harold Harfman.  As well as working in the bush, he also drove highway long haul and many years of low bedding.  Gord retired from Crestbrook Forest Industries in 2001.

Family was everything to Gord.  He will always be remembered with much love and loyalty from everyone, especially Marj.

Gord is survived by his beloved wife Marj and four children 11 grandkids and five great grandkids.  They include sons:

Brian (Barb) – Jessica, Troy (Brittany) Clare

Mark (Joan) – Bryce (Claire), Kendall (Brad)

Clint – Meagen (Victor), Lorna, Wyley (Jasmine)

Daughter Cheryl (Jack) – Brady , Tate (Cheyenne) and Traycer.

Also left behind are five great grandsons; Damien, Kane, Cyrus, Maverick and Theo.  His nephew Randy (Christa) – Jacob, Zackariah and Ashtynn.

He also had special friendships with Kim and Stacy.  Gord was a very social and respected person and will be missed by his many friends and co-workers.  Gord is preceded in death by his parents Cy and Margaret, sister Peggy and best friend Harold.  He had many dogs throughout his life and he will be met with wagging tails by “Roy” and “Squeaky”.

The family wishes to thank all those who have sent flowers, cards, food and your wonderful, caring support during this difficult time.  Gord’s caregivers were incredible and we thank Dr. Mike Dawson, the Home Care, Palliative Care and Joseph Creek Care Village for the great care and attention given to Gord in his last days.  A very special thank you to Lorraine and staff at Mark Memorial for everything.

Gord’s life will be celebrated on Saturday,  November 4, 2023 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the Viking Lodge, 2720 – 4 Ave. S., Cranbrook.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to our local 4-H Club which he supported for many years.  Donations may be made to Wasa and District 4-H Club at [email protected] or contact Lee-Ann Pighin at 250 417-5706 or Denise Stewart at 250 417-9747
