Obituary of Larry Eugene Craft

Larry Eugene CRAFT

January 30, 1931 ~ September 4, 2021 (age 90)

Larry Eugene Craft passed away on Saturday September 4th, 2021 at the age of 90. After several months of declining health Larry left us peacefully, at home with his beloved wife Dolly, and family by his side.

Larry was born and raised on a small family farm in Purple Springs, Alberta, the eldest of two sons. Dolly’s brother introduced her to Larry, a year later they were married and Larry began an apprenticeship in automotive mechanics to support his family. A full-time employment opportunity brought Larry and his family to B.C. where they ultimately settled happily in the small coal town of Sparwood.

Larry was a loving husband to Dolly, proud father to Roy (Wendy), Curtis (Kathy), David, Cheryl (Jack), Donna, and Jennifer (Steve); loving grandfather to Christie (Travis), Courtney, Matthew (Natasha), James (Maria), Johnathan (Carley), Billy (Kelsey), Ashley, Amanda, Danny (Leanne), Natalie, Michael (Karli), Sherrylynn (Mark), Greg (Colleen), Tyler (Charlene), and Jessica (Chance); great grandfather to 34 and counting, and brother to Don, brother-in-law, uncle, and dear friend to many, many more. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law Jean Craft, daughter-in-law Sandy Craft, son-in-law John Joinson, and grandsons Michael Schleppe and Michael Purcha.

Larry had a quiet voice, an amazing smile, and a great laugh. And for 90+ years, he loved to take things apart, see how they worked and put them back together, hopefully with no extra parts. Larry loved animals, especially dogs; if you wish, in lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to Meant 2B Rescue Society (address posted below) or to a charity of your choice.

According to Larry’s wishes there will be no funeral or public service.
