Obituary of Leonard John POLAK
Leonard John POLAK
It is with great sadness and regret that we announce the passing of Leonard John Polak on June 30, 2023 at the age of 84 in the Elk Valley Hospital in Fernie, B.C. after a brave fight with cancer.
Len, or Buddy as many of his family referred to him, was born July 21, 1938 in Natal, B.C. to parents John and Ruth Polak and was predeceased by his younger brother, Arthur Douglas Polak.
Len spent his life in Sparwood, B.C. and worked in the Coalmines as a Linesman for most of his working years and even came out of retirement for a stretch to help keep busy.
Len was a generous, trustworthy man with a sharp sense of humour and a straightforward quick wit. Rarely seen not wearing a plaid shirt and pair of jeans, he loved hunting and fishing, the outdoors and coffee with friends. He also treasured his family, especially his many nieces and nephews.
Len will be dearly missed by his family; nephews Ron Polak and wife Sandy, Guy Polak, Brad Polak and Jason Polak and wife Lindsay, their children Jasper and Phoebe, sister-in-law Edna Polak, and many dearly loved close relatives.
We would like to thank the talented and caring staff of both the East Kootenay Regional Hospital and Elk Valley Hospital, as well as John & Lynda Gawryluk from Cherished Memories for your support and guidance.
A special thanks to Lynn & Brian Parkes and Family.
As per Len’s wishes, no service is planned.
In lieu of flowers, if friends or family so desire, memorial donations can be made to Angel Flight East Kootenay, a needful service Len valued greatly.
