Obituary of Linda Minnis

Linda Minnis

On Saturday, June 24, 2023, Linda Minnis, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and foster mother, passed away at the age of 73. She was a beacon of love and warmth, deeply treasured by her family, friends, and everyone whose life she touched.

Linda was born on August 25, 1949, in Vancouver, BC, to her devoted parents, Bev and Bruce Harker, both of whom have predeceased her. Her formative years were spent at Queen Elizabeth Senior Secondary School in Surrey, BC, where she blossomed into the extraordinary woman she would become.

Linda found her partner in life, Terry Minnis, and they were married on July 17, 1999. Together, they created a home filled with love and laughter. Linda is survived by her loving husband, Terry, who will forever carry their precious memories in his heart.

Known as a nurturing soul, Linda was a proud mother to her sons, Dean (Heather) Fancy, Jeff (Shawna) Fancy, and Michael (Emily) Minnis. Her role as a grandmother was one she cherished greatly. Her joy and pride were her grandchildren, Wyatt, Easton, Lorna, Rosebud, and Amira, whom she adored.

A dedicated foster mother, Linda served as a second mom to many, generously providing care, comfort, and guidance. Her love and dedication were truly boundless.

Linda worked at Zellers before transitioning to a rewarding career as an Education Assistant. Her passion for helping others was evident in her professional life, and she touched many lives through her dedication.

Outside of work, Linda had a green thumb and loved her time spent gardening. She was also an enthusiastic fisherwoman, camping enthusiast, and kayaker, where she found peace and serenity in nature. She fondly remembered her trip to Greece and cherished the memories of her fishing trips to Haida-Gwaii with Terry.

In addition to her immediate family, Linda is survived by her brothers Bob Harker, Tony (Suzanne) Harker, Mike (Linda) Harker, and sister Alisha (Shawn) Carver.

The celebration of Linda’s life will be at the Cranbrook Golf Club on Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 1 to 4 pm. Her spirit, warmth, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cancer Society in Linda’s honor, reflecting her lifelong dedication to aiding others.

Her love, laughter, and legacy will forever be remembered. We are all better for having known her, and we will miss her deeply.
