Norman Thomas Davies
Norm was Born May 19, 1939 in Vancouver B.C to Ruby and Thomas Davies. As a child Norm attended Franklin Elementary School then Van Tech High School graduating in 1957. He started his working career as a plumber working with his father then working for Fred Welsh. In Vancouver he met and married Anne (DeVries) they would later welcome their daughter Denise. Normās career later moved him to bidding commercial construction work, he moved into a supervisor role working for Dillingham Construction and Lummus Combustion Engineering. Norm built and worked on most of the papermills across Canada, as well as hydro electric, gas, and coal plants all over the world. For a short time, Norm also had his own Canada/U.S engineering consulting company. Normās last position was as Project Manager at the Black Hills Corporation. In 1994 Norm and Anne bought the Byng Hotel in Cranbrook so the family relocated. Sadley in 1995 Norm and the family lost Anne. The family continued, and Norm and his daughter ran the Byng for several years until selling in 2008. Norm had a fierce love of sports, he loved soccer, golf, football, and hockey. One of Norms last statements was āI guess Iāll never see the Canuks win the Stanley cup,ā we laughed and said, āNo one will ever live to see the Canuks win the Stanley Cup.ā Norm is now at peace playing golf smiling with us.
Norm was Predeceased by parents Tom and Ruby Davies, he first wife Anne who passed away in 1995 and his second wife Joyce in 2016.
He is survived by daughter Denise Stewart (Boyd Buckley), granddaughter Shayla, sister Ann Dinsdale, as well as nephews Darrel (Debbie), Tom (Joy) Dinsdale and many extended family members.
Norm was a man of integrity, hopelessly honest, caring, he recognized people for their strengths and weaknesses and gave respect to everyone. He will be dearly missed.
Normās family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Brown, Dr. Wik, Arlene and all the nurses on the 3rdĀ floor of the East Kootenay Regional Hospital especially Tonya and Brittnay.
A Celebration of Normās life will take place at a later date.
