Baker Wild Theatre preps for The Optimist
Mount Baker Wild Theatre has been hard at work putting together a brand new piece of theatre with a crew of brand new students.
The Optimist is an original production full of offbeat characters, slapstick and rolling around on the floor. With Buster Keaton as inspiration, Wild Theatre students will put together an evening of fun and cynicism.
It’s still in progress, but it can be revealed that most of it is silent (there’s one speech so far). The rest is action, reaction and a little Parkour. Oh, and an accordion, a ukulele and a stand up bass. So far. Who knows what will happen by opening night? Directed by Mary Hamilton, with a set by Dave Hill and the Mount Baker stagecraft students and costuming by Penny Medig, the show is set to be fun and light. Well, perhaps a little violent, but in a fun and light way.
Come and enjoy the fun! The Optimist runs November 26-28 at the Key City Theatre. Tickets are $10 ($8 for students and seniors). Showtime is 7:30 p.m.. The opening night reception will be catered by Green Door. See you at the show!
