The Hutchinson Andrew Trio will be appearing at The Arts Station on Saturday, March 30 at 8 p.m.

Since coming together in 2004, Kodi Hutchinson’s ‘Hutchinson Andrew Trio’ has become a regular fixture on the Western Canadian jazz scene. They have performed for enthusiastic crowds across Canada at events such as the Medicine Hat, Calgary and Yardbird Jazz Festivals as well as the mainstage at the Montreal Jazz Festival where they were nominated for the CBC Galaxie Rising Star Award and GM Grand Prix Award. They have been recorded live by CBC Radio, and have been nominated for both their albums for a Western Canadian Music Award for Outstanding Jazz Album with ‘Lost but not forgotten’ (2006), and ‘Music Box’ (2008).

Although Hutchinson Andrew Trio can be categorized as contemporary acoustic jazz, don’t be fooled.  The Trio has elements of swing, groove, and Latin incorporated into their music giving them a distinct sound. With an award-winning debut album and an array of attention grabbing performances including their set at the final weekend of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, you can expect to be glued to your seat when they come to Fernie promoting their upcoming album.
