Noises Off a madcap good time

Regional theatre-goers received a funny-bone fine-tuning the past two weeks at Cranbrook’s Key City Theatre, with performances of Noises Off.

With a lavish set and nine game Cranbrook and Kimberley-based actors diving snoot-first into the material, directors Dalton and Mary Hamilton presented an evening at the theatre reminiscent of something one would find at London’s West End on Jan 19-21 and 26/27 at the Key City Theatre.

As per the Key City Theatre’s website: “Noises Off has often been called “the funniest comedy ever written,” and with good reason. Chronicling a second-rate theatre troupe’s journey of producing a third-rate British sex farce from dress rehearsal to closing night, the play is replete with madcap characters, witty dialogue and gut-busting physical comedy.”

The cast included: Stephanie Best, Susan Hanson, Kirsten Kasner, Tanya Laing Gahr, Trevor Lundy, Brad McCue, Dean Nicholson, David Popoff, and the venerable Bud Abbott.

The Key City Theatre continues with its 20th anniversary celebrations. Go to: https://www.keycitytheatre.com/ for more information.
