Kimberley is cutting‐edge cool
Outdoor table‐tennis coming to downtown
In the current economic climate you could be forgiven for feeling glum about the downtown’s economic vitality.
There are complex reasons for this and events unseen that reflect stronger fundamentals than the downtown vacancy rate would indicate. Community organizations and businesses are doing their best to continue stoking the fires of Kimberley’s downtown vitality.
A perfect example of that creativity, is a partnership being led by Colin Squirrell, the Lee Sparks Society and Kimberley & District Community Foundation to bring an outdoor table‐tennis to the downtown core (check out what it looks like in New York city: https://vimeo.com/21426469).
The table, designed and fabricated locally, has a permanent home in front of the Sew Creative business. Table‐tennis balls and racquets (although they look more like paddles) are available to borrow for free from Pedal & Tap, Kootenay Cycle Works, and the Bean Tree Café.
Keep your ears open for other cool initiatives, such as First Saturdays ‐ a monthly celebration of Kimberley arts, culture, and heritage.
In the meantime, keep in mind we are all ambassadors to this wonderful community; do your part – pitch‐in, stay positive, and celebrate our community spirit!
