āI am very excited to continue working with the Kimberley Chamber for another term and as president. The chamber has gone through many changes in the recent past that include; new general manager Mike Guarnery, new location, divesting of the visitor information centre, changes to operations and financial systems and growth of Julyfest success. A lot of the heavy lifting has been completed transitioning to a new healthy foundation. But there is still work to be done. So I look forward to working with the new board in performing a leadership role in the promotion, development, growth and prosperity of business in our community ā we are focused on business. Iād also like to thank Darren Close for his leadership as president over the past two years and his continued involvement in the chamber,ā Shaw stated.
The meeting outlined roles and responsibilities of the board, followed by a review of 2013 and identifying objectives for 2014.
The board also completed the assignment of chair responsibilities within the committee structure.Ā The Chairpersons are: Greg Bradley (Economic Development, Communication), Dave Clarke (Events, Julyfest), Bev Campbell (Membership), and Brenda Bannister (Finance).
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for February 12, followed by a Strategic Planning session on February 19. The first Julyfest meeting is February 3.
We invite you to come out to our next mingler, Feb 20 at new Sun Life location at 249 Wallinger Avenue to meet our new board and hear our vision and report of our strategic plan for 2014
