Local builders presented Georgie Awards

The Canadian Home Builders’ Association of British Columbia (CHBA BC) presented the winning entries for the 2016 Georgie Awards March 11.

And two East Kootenay companies were among the big winners.

Cranbrook-based New Dawn Developments Ltd. and Fernie-based Fernie Home Builders Inc. won awards for Best Single Family Detached Home up to 2,000 Sq. Ft. under $500,000 (Novak residence) and Best Single Family Detached Home over 2,000 Sq. Ft. under $750,000 (Snow Creek Cabins).

The winners were announced in Vancouver in front of over 600 members and guests at the sold-out 24th annual Georgie Awards Gala.

The event featured emcee Todd Talbot, from W Network’s Love it or List it Vancouver, opening act Fresh Dance Crew and a performance from break-dance crew Now or Never in the second half of the program.

To be eligible for a Georgie Award, members of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of BC submitted entries from across British Columbia that were built, renovated, developed, created and/or marketed during the period of January 1, 2014 – September 30, 2015.

The finalists and winners were selected by a panel of out-of-province industry professionals.

“The Georgie Awards continue to be the premier housing awards program in Canada because of the diverse and high-level entries we receive from across British Columbia,” said CHBA BC’s CEO Neil Moody. “This year was no exception and all of the winners represent the level of quality and professionalism we have come to expect within the residential construction industry in the province. Congratulations to all of our finalists and winners for their accomplishments.”
