Playpen supporting Yellow Dog Project

Even dogs need their personal space.

A Cranbrook business is getting behind the Yellow Dog Project to help dog owners and dogs find more personal space.

“The Yellow Dog Project is an initiative that was started because one dog owner had difficulty having other dog owners respect her dog’s personal space. Even though dogs are social beings, sometimes dogs do need space from other dogs. This could be for medical reasons, training, aggression, etc.,” explained Karla Shalley, owner/operator of The Playpen Pet Boarding & Grooming.

The Yellow Dog Project is trying to educate people that some dogs need space and this will be indicated by a yellow ribbon on a leash.

“The Playpen is supporting this initiative by getting several posters made and posting them in various locations visited by dog owners (vets, pet stores, parks). We are also offering free yellow ribbons made from bright yellow water proof material. All people need to do is come up to The Playpen and ask for one,” Shalley explained.
