Rotary Way connector underway
The Rotary Way Connector to the NorthStar Rails to Trails is underway.
“This extension will provide a much safer access to the trail system. The connector also provides an excellent opportunity for future links into the Rotary Way trail system within the city,” noted a Cranbrook Rotary Club informational distributed during a Nov. 4 gathering of project members at the McPhee Road trailhead.
The Cranbrook Rotary Club wishes to acknowledge the cooperation and support of a number of people and businesses. Rotary has partnered with the City’s Leisure Services Department and Engineering Department representing the City of Cranbrook, as well as with property owners, Ed Berukoff, Hal Anderson and Wildstone Golf Course, who allowed us to use their lands for the connector. Fortris and Hydro provided right of ways while grants and support came from Columbia Basin Trust, Regional District of East Kootenay and the provincial and federal governments. All partners are represented in the above photo.
“We are all very pleased to see that the construction of the Rotary Way Connector is now in progress,” noted Rotarian Sandy Zeznik.
