World Tourism Day – Tourism and Peace

College of the Rockies Tourism Management Department in partnership with St. Eugene Mission Resort, invites all tourism community members, the general public, students, faculty and employees to join us inside the College of the Rockies Lecture Theatre (Room 250) to celebrate this annual event.

Information regarding our Tourism Management Program will be available.

Introduction to College Tourism Programs and World Tourism Day

“Tourism and Peace” Keynote Session

  • “The SDGs + Resort Operations” – Becky Pelkonen, College of the Rockies & Lecia Ferber, St. Eugene Mission Resort
  • Case studies on tourism collaborations between Indigenous peoples, students and tourists
  • “New Immigrant Voices in the Tourism Industry” – a short presentation by College of the Rockies Tourism Management Alumni
  • “Tourism as a Force for Reconciliation” – Keynote Address by Beverley O’Neil, Ktunaxa citizen, consultant and founding member of Indigenous Tourism BC

Refreshments, networking, and adding your voice to the discussions on “Tourism and Peace: 4.45 – 5.30pm (Main Foyer, Kootenay Centre)

This event is FREE to attend, but we do ask you to pre-register to help manage numbers.
