City crews dealing with five water main breaks

City of Cranbrook Public Works Water crews are dealing with five separate water main breaks around the city this morning (Feb. 11). Crews have done their very best to notify all the affected residents, the city reports.

The water break locations include:

6th Street North and 17th Avenue North (pictured above);

14th Street South and 3rd Avenue South;

18th Avenue South and 10th Street South;

216-8th Avenue South;

and #6 Anderson Crescent.

Public Works advises that two breaks are being repaired now and as manpower and equipment are available, they will move on to the other breaks. Public Works have rented two additional machines to assist in the repair work.

It is hoped that all the breaks will be repaired and water services restored to all residences by the end of the day, noted city corporate communications officer Chris Zettel.

Once water service is restored, residents may notice that the water is discoloured, he continued. This discolouration is not considered a health concern. You are advised to run your cold water tap until the water runs clear.

The City of Cranbrook apologizes for any inconvenience.
