Cranbrook Farmer’s Market extending
Spring is in the air and plans for a fresh new market season are well underway!
The Cranbrook Farmer’s Market Society is entering the sixth year of operating the Farmer’s Market and patrons can look forward to an extended market season in 2014.
Starting on Saturday, May 31, the Market will kick off with the first of three spring markets being held at 1114 Baker Street, in downtown Cranbrook – the site where we have hosted our popular Winter Market for the past four years. This location was chosen for the early season markets as a nod to the unpredictability of spring weather, and will give us the option of setting up outside in the parking lot on fine days, or moving indoors in case of inclement weather.
Spring Market operating times and dates at this location will be 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturdays May 31, June 7 and June 14.
Our farm and garden vendors have been working hard over the past few years to have early season produce available, so customers can look forward to spring greens and bedding plants, along with a great selection of baked goods, jams and preserves, honey, ready to eat food, and artisans offering everything from handmade body products to jewelry and more. Along with many of the ‘market favourite’ vendors, we are pleased to have new vendors joining us and know that market customers will appreciate the addition of products like pork and lamb being available at the market.
Following the spring season, we will kick off our regular market season on Saturday, June 28 at our usual market location on 10th Avenue South, adjacent to Rotary Park.
The Cranbrook Farmer’s Market anticipates another wonderful season, running every Saturday with operating hours of 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. throughout the summer.
“We are looking forward to another great market season,” says Cranbrook Farmer’s Market Society President Jody Murdoch, “and we would like to thank vendors and the community for their support in helping to make the market so successful.”
We are also pleased to be working with the SummerSounds and the Cranbrook and District Arts Council on plans for two night markets, to be held in Rotary Park on Wednesdays, July 16 and August 13 from 5-8:30 p.m.
